The aim of this unit is for students to develop an appreciation of the design aspects associated with chemical engineering processes, and introduces strategies for chemical engineering design problem solving including computer aided chemical engineering designs.
Students who successfully complete this unit should be able to:
Lectures (3 hours), Tutorials (2 hours), Labs (2 hours), and 7.5 hours of self-study per week.
Introduction to design as an applied subject, the role of analytical techniques in design
Introduction to process flow sheeting
Introduction to process design using ASPEN-HYSYS Software
