KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ School of Foundation Studies coordinated the university’s first Korean Language Short Course from 12 April to 7 May.
Approved by the university’s Executive Group, the four-week eight-hour beginner level course was designed for those with little to no experience in the language.
The course was facilitated by Jho, a native Korean with years of experience in teaching his mother tongue. Participants practised fundamentals in listening, speaking, reading, writing and application in everyday situations while learning resources served as a guide for practising the language.
Known for his passionate and lively engagement with students, Jho received positive feedback from the participants. ‘Very interactive, lively and fun classes’, ‘such an amazing experience’ and ‘detailed explanations, easy to understand’ were some of the comments.
Open to the Swinburne community and members of the public, it was capped at 20 per class for one-to-one coaching and interaction.
“The short course aims to create a bridge between Swinburne and the community, and to offer a value-added activity for students which may be beneficial to their employment,” said Head of School Su Sueh Ing.
