Four students awarded bursaries

KUCHING – Four students from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus have been awarded a total of RM100,000 in bursaries by Yayasan Sime Darby.

The recipients are Eric Hii Ding Yong (Bachelor of Engineering (Robotics and Mechatronics)), Wendy Ong Han Sze (Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology)), Chai Cheun Yee (Bachelor of Engineering (Robotics & Mechatronics)), and Yang Ching Hian (Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering)).

Each will receive a RM25,000-bursary per academic year which covers tuition fees, monthly allowance, book allowance and a one-off computer allowance.

They also received a certificate of achievement.

The presentation of the awards was held at the Sime Darby Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur recently. Swinburne Sarawak was represented by Eric Hii Ding Yong at the event.

Yayasan Sime Darby was set up in 1982. The foundation works closely with the Sime Darby Group and its divisions in areas of common concern.

The foundation supports initiatives in community development; youth, sports and recreation; education, arts and culture; and environment and protection.

Sime Darby is a diversified company with operations in over 20 countries. Its range of business includes plantations, property, motors, industrial equipment, energy and utilities, and healthcare.
