Other participating organisations were UEM, Public Bank, AXA Affin Life Insurance Berhad, Saradise, Infinity Abroad, BIGDEX, OOTB, PCSS Consultancy and Press Metal.

Visitors at the fair had the chance to speak directly to the respective employers and find out more about qualifications and attributes the employers are looking for in hiring the ideal candidates. Current students were also able to enquire about internship placements and training programmes that suit their education background, skills and interest. Furthermore, a number of companies offered on-the-spot applications and also conducted face-to-face interviews.

Head of Talent Acquisition Loh Ken Ming of Teach For Malaysia said the organisation is looking to recruit graduates particularly for their leadership development programme.

“We invite graduates with engineering, social science or those with strong STEM background to apply to this programme. If you’re looking into building or strengthening your leadership skills, and learn how to develop your future career, this programme suits you,” said Loh.

A recent graduate of the university Beatrice Mentie came to the fair to enquire directly with the employers on recruitment matters. Hailing from Miri, the Human Resource Management graduate is currently involved in a part-time small business and is keen to be employed at Sarawak Energy or Sarawak Palm Oil.

Meanwhile, third-year robotics and mechatronics engineering student of Swinburne’s Sarawak campus Chan Pak Kheng attended the fair with his fellow course mates to gather more information on internship placements. Chan, originally from Ipoh, opined that the career fair was an eye-opener as he was not aware of some of the companies’ establishments.
