KUCHING – Students who missed out on Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ Open Day last Saturday will still be able to visit the university’s upcoming Open Day on 17 June 2023 to learn about pursuing an affordable Australian tertiary education closer to home.
The Open Day will take place from 10am to 4pm at the university campus along Jalan Simpang Tiga and it is open to members of the public, especially SPM, STPM, O-Level, A-Level and UEC school-leavers.
The event is an excellent avenue to gain first-hand information on Swinburne Sarawak’s globally-ranked courses, work integrated learning, dynamic student experience, modern facilities, transfer options and much more.
Prospective students and parents will have the opportunity to meet directly with the university’s academic experts and course counsellors to explore courses offered in a diverse range of fields – from business to computing, design, engineering, quantity surveying, science, arts, media and education.
Students can also discover more about Swinburne Sarawak’s newly introduced programs, including the Diploma of Information Technology, Diploma of Digital Media Design, Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Diploma of Quantity Surveying.
Apart from courses, visitors can find out more about scholarships, bursaries and financial aid options. These include internal merit scholarships and bursaries offered by the university from foundation to postgraduate levels of study, in addition to those offered by external providers such as Yayasan Sarawak and Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN).
Sarawakian students who meet the eligibility criteria can benefit from the English Enhancement Program (EEP), funded by Yayasan Sarawak. This four-week program provides an opportunity for students to hone their English language skills in preparation for their university journey. Swinburne Sarawak’s upcoming EEP intake is on 26 June 2023.
Another highlight of the Open Day is the chance for visitors to connect with current students of the university and take guided tours of the campus. This allows prospective students to get a taste of the vibrant university life at Swinburne Sarawak. As part of these tours, visitors can catch a glimpse of the highly-anticipated upgrades being carried out with the aim of enhancing the campus experience and providing students with a world-class teaching and learning environment.
From 12pm onwards, visitors will also be able to catch informative program previews and financial aid talks delivered by the university’s faculty members and Yayasan Sarawak respectively. These talks will provide students with valuable insights into various fields of study, paving the way towards a successful academic journey.
Once students have selected their preferred program, they can proceed to apply on the spot at the Open Day. Eligible students applying for admission will receive their Letter of Offer on the same day. To facilitate the application process, prospective students are advised to bring along a copy of their Malaysian identification card or certified copy of their passport, as well as academic transcripts and certificates (SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level, A-Level and so on).
