MLNG, Swinburne Sarawak discuss graduate employment

KUCHING – The senior human resources management team from Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd (MLNG) recently visited Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus.

Ahmad Laila B. Set, the General Manager for Human Resources who led the team from the Bintulu-based liquefied natural gas company, was received by Associate Professor Enn Ong, the Academic Director at Swinburne Sarawak.

At their hour-long meeting, they discussed topics including courses offered by the Australian branch campus, curriculum, graduate employment, student internship programs.

Ahmad spoke at length on the qualities MLNG look for in potential staff and expressed interest in seeing engineering and business graduates from the university trying out for openings in the company.

He also brought up the possibility of organizing an employment fair on campus for Swinburne Sarawak graduates and students.

MLNG is a subsidiary of national oil and gas company, Petronas.

The meeting ended with both parties agreeing to explore collaboration on graduate employment. 

Accompanying Ahmad on the visit from MLNG included Noor Azlan B. Ariffin, Head, People Planning and Management; Tuan Hj Matnor B. Ali, Head, Employee Relations and Benefits; Adi Suria B. Ishak, Head, Talent Management; and Norazibah Md. Rabu, Head, Corporate Affairs.

Also representing Swinburne Sarawak were Datu Dr Julaihi Bin Bujang, Government and External Liaison Director; Tuan Haji Hussain Bin Taiban, Registrar and Director of Student Operations; James Ho, Business Development and Communications Director; Dr Dennis Wong, Acting Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Science and Computing; Dr Kho Yau Hee, Senior Lecturer and Industrial Placement Coordinator, Faculty of Engineering, Science and Computing; and Kartini Nawawi, Career and Employment Executive, Student Operations.
