KUCHING – Top performing Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) graduates who enrol on a course of study with Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus could be awarded full scholarship.
The Pro-Chancellor Excellence Full Scholarship will see first-time students who attained 7As and above in the recently released UEC exams results be offered full scholarship covering all tuition expenses when enrolled into any of its 2022 undergraduate intakes.
“This scholarship is available to all first-time, full-time students enrolled into any of our undergraduate programmes,” said Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer Ir. Professor Lau Hieng Ho. Our goal at Swinburne Sarawak is to close the financial gap and to honour the university’s maxim of offering world-renowned education to all deserving students.
“Swinburne Sarawak is committed to providing financial assistance to students who wants to invest in a high-quality Australian education but may not be able to enrol because of financial limitations.,” he added. The full scholarship is open to Malaysian students. Due to the high demand, only 20 spots are available for the 2022 university intakes.
Aside from attaining 7As in their UEC result, students will be expected to maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.85 per year. Those unable to maintain the stipulated CGPA but achieve a CGPA of no lower than 3.75 will be eligible to a 15% fee waiver in the following academic semester.
Additionally, Swinburne also offers prospective students the opportunity to pay nothing for when they start classes for its February 2022 intake. The Study Now Pay Later (SNPL) scheme enables students to adapt to Swinburne’s blended learning mode of study as well as face-to-face classes, all without the initial financial commitment.
The SNPL scheme is offered to domestic students to attend lectures for the first 6 weeks of the semester. After the 6th week, student can pay their tuition fee via a 12-months easy payment plan. Students taking up the SNPL scheme and who are awarded a scholarship will still be able to enjoy the scholarship offered to them by the university, in the second year of their study.
With a decade of experience in online learning, Swinburne offers flexibility for students to learn and engage with classmates and lecturers at their own time and location. This is made even more use-friendly with the use of CANVAS, a leading learning management system also adopted by other renowned universities worldwide.
Swinburne Sarawak offers the one-year Foundation programmes in business, engineering/science and information technology/multimedia that provide direct opportunity to progress into Bachelor’s degree level. Upon successful completion, students can choose to enrol into their preferred degree courses such as accounting, finance, management and digital media, biotechnology, environmental science, civil engineering, robotics and mechatronics engineering, cybersecurity, Internet of Things, multimedia design, graphic design, or other courses of their choice.
Meanwhile, students wishing to find employment after their studies may enrol into the newly approved Diploma of Accountancy programme or the 2.5-year Diploma of Business Management.
Individuals keen to re-skill and up-skill to remain competitive have the options to pursue the Master of Arts (TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)), Master of Construction Management, Master of Information Technology and Master of Business Administration (International). These postgraduate by coursework programmes are open for enrolment throughout the year.
In meeting the need to produce human talent required for a digital and tech-rich future, all Swinburne’s programmes are designed to include work-integrated units that emphasize on experiential learning. In the form of placements, internships or industry-linked projects, Work Integrated Learning (WIL) empowers students with the confidence, skills, real industry experience and other attributes that are crucial for their entry in the workplace.
Its programmes are recognised and accredited by professional bodies such as Engineers Australia, Australian Computer Society, CPA Australia, and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Additionally, the programmes’ curriculum and learning outcomes are undifferentiated from its main campus in Melbourne, Australia, and as a result, students from the Sarawak campus are awarded the same testamurs and qualifications as their Australian peers.
