Swinburne Sarawak Open Day this Saturday

KUCHING – SPM, STPM and UEC school leavers looking to further their studies early next year can learn more about programs offered by Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus during its Open Day from 10am to 5pm this Saturday, 12 December, 2015.

Swinburne Sarawak, the international branch campus of Melbourne’s Swinburne University, offers a variety of programs that lead to an Australian qualification.

SPM school leavers planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree may first enrol on one-year foundation studies in business, design, engineering/science, or IT/multimedia programs.

They may then progress to a business, computing, design, engineering or biotechnology undergraduate studies at either Swinburne Sarawak or a Swinburne campus in Australia.

These programs, which emphasise hands-on learning and industry experience, are accredited and vetted by professional bodies both in Malaysia and Australia.

Classes for foundation studies start on 11 January, while STPM and UEC school leavers can look forward to begin degree programs on 29 February.

Those interested to apply for entry into the programs on Open Day are advised to bring along their identity card and birth certificate. Application fee will be waived and an offer to study letter will be issued to the successful applicant.

To help school leavers make informed decisions, academics will be present for program consultation and career advice while student project displays and activities demonstrate what the programs involve.

Those undecided on their career path may take a quick personality-career matching test. Trained counsellors will analyse the results and offer career guidance.

Information on a range of scholarships and study loans such as those from Yayasan Sarawak, TEGAS and PTPTN will be provided by a dedicated booth.
A guided tour of the campus, conducted by students, is available on request.

On the same day, a run and walk to raise funds and awareness for orangutan conservation will start at 6.30am while a blood donation drive organised by the Swinburne Sarawak Alumni Association will take place from 9am to 4pm.
