KUCHING – SPM and STPM school leavers who recently obtained their public examination results might want to make their way to Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus for its Open Day from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, 12 March.
The Australian university branch campus is now taking applications for its foundation and degree programs.
Classes for its foundation studies will start on 28 March. The university is still accepting application for its range of degree courses.
Swinburne Sarawak offers four foundation courses: business, design, IT/multimedia, and engineering/science. These one-year courses prepare SPM school leavers for degree courses they will undertake.
Those who enroll on the upcoming foundation intake could look forward to studying degree by early next year.
Degree courses are in business, computing, design, engineering and biotechnology. These may be completed entirely at Swinburne Sarawak, with an option to transfer to its campus in Melbourne, Australia.
Undergraduates could also study in Australia as an exchange student.
To help school leavers and their family make better informed choices on higher education, they may consult with teaching staff about courses and accreditation, career outlook and the like, during the Open Day.
Applications for foundation or degree courses require the sighting of the applicant’s original examination result slip and identity card.
Offering a window into what the range of courses involves are the displays of an array of student projects, including the demonstrations of engineering, multimedia and biotechnology assignments and final year work.
School leavers who are undecided in their career choice may sit a quick “personality-career” matching analysis where trained university counselors offer advice on suitable courses based on the result of the exercise.
Newly enrolled students of Swinburne Sarawak may be eligible for a range of financial aid based on academic and extra-curricular achievements. Information on this as well as scholarships and study loans can be obtained at the event.
A carnival organized by student clubs will feature the sale of food and beverages, fun and games, exhibitions as well as performances.
