KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus has launched the English Enhancement Program (EEP) for the second year. Sponsored by Yayasan Sarawak, EEP helps students improve their English language skills.
Students who have completed their secondary school education can enrol on the program. The four-week program is popular for its impact on a student’s academic journey.
Victoria Paloma Victor Palau shared that the activities were engaging. “We learned to think outside the box and to do things we would not do on our own,” she said. Victoria is now in her foundation year in IT/multimedia.
Gerald Jong attributed the continued success of his first year of university to EEP. “It helped me settled into university life, make new friends and new experiences.”
He added that without the program, his first year would have been even tougher.
Mathew Telajan anak Sait opined that students should enrol on EEP. “The program has helped with my social skills and English language acquisition. I have also made new friends and gained many new experiences from the program,” Mathew added.
– According to Mathew, EEP helped in his social skills and improved his English.
According Tuan Haji Mersal bin Abang Rosli, Director, Yayasan Sarawak, the foundation wants Sarawakians to have quality Australian education. “EEP is in line with our vision for skilled human capital,” he emphasised.
Syamizi bin Anji expressed his excitement when learning about EEP. “I am looking forward to using the modern facilities available to students on campus,” he added.
Students enrolled into EEP benefit from zero tuition fees and a one-off relocation allowance. Those who are from outside Kuching will receive free on-campus accommodation. Students will also have access to the latest learning and teaching facilities.
To enrol, students must have a minimum Grade C for any subject, including Bahasa Melayu. Student’s English language result must be minimum Grade D. Upon completion, students will receive further financial support from Yayasan Sarawak. This acts as a pathway into a foundation, diploma or degree program at Swinburne.
