Tiong was trained as a mechanical engineer at UNIMAS, and after a stint in the manufacturing industry, he went into the higher education industry as a lecturer in a skills training college for more than 10 years. He has trained many engineering technicians over the years, and also holds a Master’s degree in Education and a Certificate IV in Assessment and Training.
