Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak is pleased to offer the IoT in Industry 4.0 – Hands-on Workshop in Kuching, Sarawak.  The 2-day course is scheduled on 17-18 October and is now open for registration.

The workshop is designed to give an insight into the application of Internet of Things (IoT) and its applications and opprtunities in the industry.

Upon completion, you will receive a Certificates of Attendance – “IoT in Industry 4.0 – Hands-on Workshop” from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak.

Why You Should Attend This Course:

Digital transformation is known to be an effective solution in improving the productivity and efficiency of the manufacturing industry and lately the addition of Internet of Things (IoT) has driven the industry to another level. With the most recent industrial transformation, IoT has become one of the key enablers in Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing implementation. However, the application of these technologies in the local industries has not been widely explored. This short course aims to gather and expose the participants from different industry backgrounds to the IoT technology and their applications in various areas. The participants will also get their chance to have the hands-on experience in developing the IoT solutions to solve the problem in their relevant work place using the popular open-source development platforms.

Note: Participants are required to bring laptop for hands on exercises.

Target beneficiaries

This short course is designed to suit the participants who wish to acquire the basic knowledge and skills in the area of IoT. The participants are expected to have basic technical background in IT, engineering or science. However, participants with fluent computer skill should be able to cope with the course content in general.

Course objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Conceptualise the application and structure of IoT in the industry
  • Setup and interface various type of sensors with microcontroller
  • Setup internet connection on a microcontroller
  • Utilise cloud-based service for data collection
  • Perform data visualisation, analysis and action based on the collected information

Participants are required to attend all 2 days of the programme, which focus on specific training skillsets. The topics covered during the programme include:

Introduction to NodeMCU

  • What is microcontroller?
  • Getting started with NodeMCU
  • Setting up internet connection with NodeMCU

Sensor

  • Sensor classification and application
  • Sensor interfacing
  • Data collection

Cloud Connection

  • Using cloud-based data collection platform
  • Sending data to collection platform
  • Data collection, visualisation and analysis
  • Generate action from data

Day 2

Advanced sensor and Mini project

Vision based sensor

  • Basic of vision based sensor
  • Getting started with PixyCam
  • Extracting data from PixyCam
