Eligibility

  • The loan is applicable for Malaysian Diploma and Degree students only (except Double Degree programs).
  • Must have sat for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysian (SPM) examination and obtain Credit for BM.
  • You must have at least 1 year (2 semesters) of study left upon application

Before applying, YOU MUST:

  1. Download the MyPTPTN App
  2. Open an SSPN Account on the MyPTPTN App
  3. Open a CIMB account – for loan disbursement by semester and must be under applicant name

Once your PTPTN Application is approved:

Please download 2 sets of the PTPTN Agreement document and submit directly to PTPTN.

Application Period

Semester 1: From 1st until 31st January
  From 1st until 28/29th February
Outcome of application: After the 7th of each application month
Semester 2: From 1st until 31st August

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I want to pursue a Professional Course at an IPTS at the Master’s/Doctor of Philosophy(Phd) level. Can I apply for a PTPTN loan?

No. PTPTN only provides education loans to students pursuing studies at the Master’s/Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) levels in Professional Courses at public universities.

I have printed the offer document. Where and when do I need to send the documents?

Submissions of offer documents must be made at the respective IPT or any nearby PTPTN branch office within 14 days from the approval date.

What are the documents for applying a second loan?

The conditions for applying a second loan are as follows:

  • Continuing studies at a higher level than the previous loans only; and
  • For students who continue their studies at the same level or lower than the previous loan is only considered after the student has settled the total amount of the previous debt (including any costs determined by PTPTN)

How long does it take to receive the loan after submitted a complete set of documents to PTPTN?

The loan will be credited within 21 working days from the date upon receiving a complete set of documents.

Why is the amount received every semester is not the same amount as the total loan amount offered to me?

The total loan amount received in every semester has been deducted for Takaful protection and Loan Advanced Payment/Wang Pendahuluan Pinjaman (WPP) (if WPP has been redeemed).

How are education loan disbursements processed for the upcoming semester?

The loan disbursement to students for the following semester is based on the following conditions:

  • Currently studying actively on every approved level, courses and IPT;
  • Passing the previous semester’s exams with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 or above

Will I be eligible to receive the education loan that was withheld due to obtaining a GPA below 2.0?

No. Loan repayments are based on the total amount received including interest applied.

Am I eligible to get the remaining balance of education loan if I successfully graduated earlier than my expected study duration?

No. The education loan disbursement will only be issued until you graduate, either earlier or according to the usual study period. The loan repayment is based on the total loan received, including interest applied.

Can the education loan be disbursed to the student’s beneficiary’s account?

No. The education loan disbursement will be credited directly only to the student’s personal account.

What is the procedure to cancel my education loan?

Borrowers need to fill in a Borang Pembatalan Pinjaman, which can be obtained from the Student Affairs Department (HEP)/ PTPTN Counter/ PTPTN official Portal, as well as an official letter requesting the cancellation of the education loan. For borrowers whi receive other scholarships, please include a copy of the offer letter from the relevant sponsor.

I have terminated my education loan with PTPTN. Can I apply for the education loan for the second time to continue my study?

Yes, if the borrower has fully repaid a previous loan at the same educational level. However, a second loan for a higher level of education may also be considered if the previous loan has not been gully repaid.
