Guest trainer Karen Shepherd will be running a series of public speaking workshops called “Speak Up!”
The first session will focus on content, covering the language, communication and presentation devices needed to craft a hard-hitting and focused presentation that will connect with an audience in three short minutes.
Date: 2nd August, 2017
Time: 2:00pm – 4:00pm
Venue: B511-512
The second will examine delivery, creating confidence in participants to manipulate voice, body language and visual material to enhance understanding and emotion in an audience.
Date: 16th August, 2017
Time: 2:00pm – 4:00pm
Venue: B511-512
These workshops will be open to all Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students as well as academic staff wanting to develop their oral presentation skills. They will be particularly useful for students preparing to join the forthcoming Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition.
For participants competing in the 3MT® competition, Karen will be conducting an additional coaching session on 16th September, at the same time and venue. Registration for the 3MT® competition is now open.
