Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus Cyber Incident: Second Update

KUCHING, 7 September – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus (Swinburne Sarawak) continues to respond to a cyber security incident.

Investigations have now confirmed that stolen data has been released online. It is still too early to determine which students have had their data compromised.

We have today written to all students and alumni, updating them on the investigation and urging them to take precautionary measures to protect themselves online.

We continue to work to identify exactly which students have had their data compromised.

We are developing a series of frequently asked questions, which will be made available and online as soon as possible.

Support services are being made available to our students and staff to assist them during this time.

Swinburne Sarawak is committed to strengthening our cyber security measures to prevent similar incidents from reoccurring.

Swinburne Sarawak’s IT systems are independent of Swinburne’s systems in Australia, and Swinburne’s Australian campuses are not impacted by this incident.
